ABOUT THE PROJECT
When we started working on this 30-second animation for Universal Export’s showroom, we knew we were in for a wild ride. How do you squeeze in a story about reliable export services, high-quality fabrics, and a Viking (yes, the one from their logo) — all in half a minute?
Well, we dove into the creative process, and came out with something we’re pretty proud of.
Take a look at how we blended fashion, strength, and a touch of mythology into one seamless loop!

STORYBOARD & ANIMATIC
During the storyboard phase, we focused on shaping the story. Our idea? A modern-day exporter crossing icy seas with precious fabrics on board — until, with a magical gust of snow, he transforms into a Viking.

The Viking puts the fabric through three epic tests:
1. The windproof test
where the fabric becomes a sail braving harsh winds;
2. The strength and stretch test
where it turns into a rope strong enough to hold the Viking’s weight;
3. The waterproof test
where it shields him like a cloak from crashing waves.

In the final scene, the same fabric now shapes modern outdoor gear — and our legendary Viking keeps a watchful eye on the quality and protection it brings to today’s adventurers.
CHARACTER DESIGN
We designed the character during the key illustration phase, then prepped him in turnaround
for stop-motion-style animation.
The idea was to make him feel like a good kind of cliché — visually appealing and more dreamlike-fashion-world than blood-soaked mythology.
Our Viking was meant to be both approachable and emblematic of reliability, calm, and quiet strength.
Not a fearsome warrior — but a trusted guardian of quality and comfort.
ILLUSTRATIONS
Stylistically, we leaned into a romance between anime and artistic, stylized animation — striking a balance with the client’s vision.
We animated the character and fabric mostly frame-by-frame, aiming for a hand-crafted, graphic feel.
Watercolor brushes met flat color fills, with irregular outlines and textured linework adding a subtle organic touch.
PROCESS SNAPSHOTS
Here, calm storytelling took the lead over fast-paced action.
We wanted the animation to feel refined, clear, and fluid — with thoughtful transitions
and narrative beats.
Characters and VFX were animated frame-by-frame, while camera movement and object animation were added in compositing and MOHO to give the whole piece extra depth and polish.
